Rich Boy Scores a Huge Debut

There are more newcomers than holdovers in this week’s Top 10, which is good news for beleaguered retailers and music bizzers still recovering from last weekend’s SXSW.

Musiq Soulchild’s Atlantic debut tops this week’s HITS album sales chart, with a total of 155k, less than 5,000 more than Universal Motown’s Atlanta-based R&B star Lloyd, whose Street Love bows at #2.

Mobile, AL, rapper Rich Boy’s self-titled Interscope bow checks in at #3, with a total of 110k, followed by a couple of returning Top 5 entries in RCA/RMG’s Idol alum Daughtry and SRC/Universal Motown’s Akon, both still going strong.

Reprise Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Neil Young’s acoustic Live at Massey Hall heads a list of three more Top 10 debuts that includes Universal Republic’s beehived U.K soul diva Amy Winehouse, with an impressive #7 finish and 50k sold, and Bad Boy/Atlantic veteran rappers Eightball & MJG’s Ridin’ High, at #8.

Jive/ZLG’s Justin Timberlake and Island/IDJ’s Fall Out Boy round out the Top 10.

Other Top 50 bows include Interscope’s James Morrison (#25), SPV RecordsType O Negative (#36), Interscope’s Fratellis (#41) and Warner Bros.300 soundtrack (#43).

Manhattan/BNLG’s Celtic Woman is up (#21, +20%), along with the sale of 1,876,000 green beers for St. Patrick’s Day, Capitol’s Lily Allen (#37-32 +18%) and Walt Disney RecordsHannah Montana soundtrack (#42-35, +13%) are the week’s double-digit gainers.

Hitting the streets are Virgin’s Joss Stone, next week’s frontrunner for #1, along with Epic indie faves Modest Mouse, Hickory’s ex-Idol Elliott Yamin, Universal Republic’s Baby By Da Prince, Universal Motown’s Marques Houston and Priority/Capitol’s incarcerated rapper Murder-C, under house arrest for, yup, murder.

I knew it could be done..

1. The Madness… Great intro to this album that is bound to be a hit.. Let the journey begin….
2. Role Models (Feat. David Banner & Attitude).. A very good song for people who do allow Radio and TV raise their kids..
3. Boy Looka Here…. Ya can’t help but love this song.. The beat is amazing.. The song is amazing.. and Rich did a damn good job at making sure this will be a hit…. And oh Yeah it’s just a good as phrase here.. when someone wants to fuck with ya… “Boy Looka Here”
4. Throw Some D’s (Feat. Polow Da Don)… Who doesn’t want to “Throw Some D’s” after this song.. I really don’t know this single that made em our Rich Boy… Polow Da Don is basically a god when it comes to his producing skills.. The guy has talented no doubt.. and Rich makes this talent shine through even more…
5. What It Do (Feat. Cutty).... Lil John with his opening roar is hot as hell.. But Rich actually made the song on this one.. His style makes em different from anyone in the game….This really doesn’t seem like a debut album.. It’s so damn well crafted…This will be a club banger in no time….
6. Good Things (Feat. Polow Da Don & Keri)... A nice song to just listen too…I love loves it… Keri their new artist is most definitely something to look out for.. I love this song cause its combines the talent of all things Zone 4 Inc and does a good ass job…
7. Hustla Balla Gangsta Mack.. I just like this song cause everyone wants to be either a “Hustla”, “Balla”, “Gansta”, or “Mack” and Rich makes you want to be one even more… Very catchy chorus… ha ha ha but I loves it…
8. Touch That Ass...Ha ha ha I love this song.. Touch that Ass.. ha ha I loves it Rich actually made it a good ass song….
9. On The Regular…The beat to this one is also good as hell. I’ve gotten through 9 songs and I have been able to listen all the way through without skipping anything.. This one is hot as hell also.. Rich does again and again….
10. Gangsta (Feat. Mark Twain) Interlude.. He got Mark Twain to join him on this one.. and we loves loves it… Very good collabo on this one…
11. Get To Poppin… We loved this one a long long time before it hit the album.. The sound is amazing as hell.. and Just the overall song is Poppin… One of my overall faves on the album… 12. And I Love You (Feat. Big Boi & Pastor Troy)… Hot song… loves the whole vibe of the song.. The beat and message says enough and does enough to make the song a guaranteed hit…. Pastor Troy does his thang and sounds good as hell…Big Boi does good as hell to.. Rich got some very good people to work with em on this album…
13. Lost Girls (Feat. Keri & Rock City)....I love love this song the vibe makes ya dance ya ass off… Again Keri delivers good as hell and Rock City does good also.. This will be hit if it’s a single…I love love Rich’s sound.. Very Very Good song… You will fall in love..
14. Ghetto Rich (Feat. John Legend)...Down to it… My favorite song on the album.. Please make this a single Rich.. John Legend did so good on this song.. and Rich is telling the truth so much on this song… Very Very good song.. This is what we need a song like this out right now…This gets my gold star..
15. Let’s Get This Paper...My Second fav on the album.. When the song starts you can feel his pain and throughout the entire song you can feel it.. Talk about a chill bump song.. Rich has officially put Alabama on the map… and in a very very good way… The end of the song is hot as hell to listen all the way to this one please…. Money is my Motivator…
16. Throw Some D’s (Remix) (Feat. Andre 3000, Jim Jones, Nelly, Murphy Lee)….The best fucking remix ever… The good ass people who helped out really contributed alot to this song.. It was already a damn hit.. and they made it even more of a hit…

This album is one of the best debut’s I have honestly heard.. I didn’t go into this review with any different sights than any other album I have listen to.. Rich Boy is going to be around… No Doubt about that.. This week is his week.. No matter where he comes out on the charts.. He knows as a person.. and his fans also know he is true talent.. What has been missing for a while.. Not saying hes the only one in the game doing it big.. But he can contribute to the game alot.. His potential is beyond what anyone may recognize at the moment… Polow Da Don.. is indeed a Don.. He does this thing and his loyalty to Rich makes him a even more powerful guy in the game.. Rich Congratulations on everything and may success take you everywhere you have alway wanted to go… It’s yours… The world is yours….

I was lucky enough yesterday to live out my dream and hang with some of the most amazing people ever.. I mean if I could wake up everyday and be one a set doing what the people were doing on the video shoot for Rich Boy… I would never complain about anything. The people in his camp are the most amazing people I have ever met in the entertainment industry. They are humble, nice, and just cool ass people… I hope to meet all these people again one day, because if everyone in the entertainment business could handle their business like they did.. everything would be great.

I was on set for the video of his latest single, “Boy Looka Here” and I must say from what I saw and the amazing crew working on this project. This video will be on top of the 106&Park Countdown. You guys will love the Mardi Gras Scenes alot because it’s a one in a lifetime event to be able to participate in.. There will also be a appearance from my favorite BET VJ. Here are few behind the scenes pics of the shoot… Enjoy em until the Video hits….

The hot blue car, Rich Boy will ride around in throughout the video..

Rich Boy strikes a pose for the camera..

Monica Monroe and Rich Boy pose…
FYI: I love the people behind us(his manager, pr guy, and marketing guy) they are very good people.

His stylist whom I also love, kept Rich looking good the whole day.
